Firedogs are decorated stands used to contain wood burning in a fireplace. The Capel Garmon Firedog is an example of master metal work from the Celtic Iron Age in Wales. It is one of the many Celtic artifacts in the newly redesigned WalesPast exhibit at the National Museum Cardiff. This year marks Amgueddfa Cymru — National Museum Wales’ centenary year. One of the highlights of the centenary programme is a development of new archaeology galleries at National Museum Cardiff. They have been spectacularly redesigned, with a new focus on how early peoples responded to change and the challenges of their times.
