Bealtaine 2023

Post by Guthrum »

The gods smiled upon us this Bealtaine celebration. The weather was everything you could ask for. Sunny skies, mild evenings, light breezes. It was also extra special being back in our ancestral site. I cannot count how many times it was commented on just how nice it was being there. Looking up at the trees just out of bud spreading their leave to the sunshine made one feel like Bealtaine was truly here.

Friday (An Aoine) we had Aoife, Bragg, Brogan, Fionnuala, Guthrum, joined by guests Anubh, Diarmaid, Graine, Eliana, Harper, and Lughaidh. A welcome stew of was enjoyed by all with many shared beverages around the fire and tales told into the small hours.

Saturday (An Satharn) The sun quickly chased the dew away and we all enjoyed coffee and tea followed by biscuits with sausage gravy. Anubh gave a class on Feasting in the Iron Age that she wants to teach at Pennsic this year. Even with all the tasty treats that were part of the class we still had a day board for snacking afterwards.

Faellon, Fiachra and Vollund joined the event and a feast of ham, lamb, beef, root veggies, green salad, pottage, spelt salad and breads and honey butter. A ceremony was held by the Druid where clan cohesiveness was stressed. The Bard led a night of singing with many Bealtaine songs being sung.

Sunday (An Domhnach) was met with coffee and tea again, but many of our guests had to leave early due to the long drives. The tents were dry for break down and storage which was a welcome gift given the previous years. The camp was completely cleaned out and everyone was on their way by 1:00

Thank you, everyone who helped make this weekend so nice.
