Silver coin designed by Vollund.
While the original "bull" bronze coin dies were carved by Aongus, Vollund chose to acid etch the tool steel dies using hydocloric acid.
the image is applied to the die using a paint called "hard ground".
This special paint resists the acid, leaving unpainted portions of the die to be eaten away by the acid, thus the design needs to be painted in reverse.
The acid etched dies are then further carved and cleaned up more conventionally.
