What News:
- Guthrum - has been doing a little forging, presented a matching table pin to Comyn which hopefully is the same as the one they forged prior, but was working by memory. Has been working on getting in shape by biking, lifting, jumping rope, jogging - has lost 40 pounds! The new svelt Guthrum arrived at the meeting in his 'Sport Kilt'.
- Finnoula - has been in South America on business recently and dealing with lots of work aftermath upon return. Architectural drawings for remodel of their house are done and she is very excited to get started, Irish festival is coming in July - look for an announcement soon on yahoo! to confirm details - last time was a great day in the sun with Irish bands and vendors, interested in getting together to go to Sands Point (MSR event) this year.
- Fiachra - has been spending much of his free time painting, plumbing, doing electrical work and feels his new house is finally ready for visitors.
- Aonghus - was feeling a bit better on the new medicine, bought a new hybrid bike and went out a few times with Fjord, but a bit discouraged at lack of energy and mysterious pains after riding.
- Comyn - passed around copies of the latest SCA Viaduct. There was some interest in an upcoming local event in Huntington - possibly a day trip? Details are posted on the site. Contractor quoting out converting garage into a music studio, Sat in for a couple sets at the vineyard with "7s and 3s" an Irish dance group out of western Nassau and got copies of their set lists (lots of rebel tunes) which he has been studying. Will post Sands Point details on site.
- Sabha - very busy with PTA stuff, has a new inkle loom and can do 84" by 5" wide trim now! Offers spinning wheel demos for anyone interested - has been producing lots of very nice yarn lately. Wants a couple sheep (Comyn rolls eyes).
- Tess - recertified EMT, delivered a baby, brought back an overdose, and got someone out of a diabetic coma! [ed. note: One more reason to not scare Tess away as her medical skills are a valued asset at events!] Bought an awesome Husky power washer...
- Brogan - helped clean the gutters at Tess' place with the powerwasher and ended up wearing a muddy, wormy, mossy mess of spooge. Hasn't been making fighter practices in Sayville lately. Described the Sayville group which is largely heavy fighters along with a smattering of wire weenies, and a little boffer for folks who aren't outfitted properly. If you want in on the boffer, bring a hockey helmet. Has been very busy at work on a new mobile production system (has outfitted similar systems in the past many times and is excited to use his skills again). Putting in for a bow hunting license, we should be eating venison at every event!
Fiscal Business:
Treasury stands at $1,253.13
- Clann still owes $200 to reimburse Sabha for ghost registrations (Ned and Fiachra)
- Clann is owed $180 for pre-ordered 2008 tee shirts (Leaving 2 XL 2008 extras). Inventory on older shirts can be found on the Clann Tee Shirts page by clicking on each shirt image.
- There are only 6 Clann coins in the treasury!
Old Business:
- Trailer - no movement on the new trailer project yet. Comyn will try to set up Wed. night to bring the trailer over to John Meade's for a discussion with Aonghus.
- Coins - we need coins before Pennsic! Colin has the stuff, but will likely be very busy over the next few weeks with the baby coming. Comyn and Brogan will try to make arrangements to get over there and bang coins if they are up for that before Pennsic.
New Business:
- PENNSIC
- Nomad - Seems to have been broken at Samhain 2007 when a part of the spit fell on the valve assembly. The symptom (fires up but not enough hot water) suggests that the gas flow isn't correct. Trailer needs to be pulled out and the valve needs to be disassembled and set up properly. Brogan will co-ordinate with Comyn to get to the shop and work on it.
- Spare Tire(s) - Brogan will not pull the trailer on the old tires. The Clann will purchase two new tires for the old trailer - Brogan will purchase them in lieu of payment on what he owes for Clann tees, and settle with the treasurer after purchase.
- Pantry - when the trailer is pulled out, a shopping list will be created to replenish the larder. Comyn mentioned there was no coffee left. General agreement to avoid using sponges and to to purchase washable cloths or handi-wipes with Clorox or equivalent.
- Redistribution of Cast Iron - in anticipation of Pennsic trip, the trailer is already over-weight. The cast iron cookware will be pulled off the trailer and distributed to Pennsic attendees as follows:
- Brogan - Cauldron and dutch oven
- Comyn - Cauldron and dutch oven
- Guthrum - Large Cauldron
The frying pan will not be brought on this trip.
- First Aid Kit - Tess will replenish the trauma bag
- Arriving at Pennsic - Finnoula suggested what everyone thought the best new idea we've heard in a while for Pennsic: new arrivals should stop at the store on the way in and pick up two bags of ice and fixings for dinner for the Clann. It is traditional that town runs be performed so that folks are back on site *before* 4pm, so if you arrive later than that time, make sure you have storage for anything you bring in overnight for use the next day.
- Dinner will be community every night! Comyn and Sabha will help with dinner every night. Brogan requests two nights off as primary cook, so attendees should co-ordinate to take this job at least two times. Primary cook makes enough food to feed the entire camp and some stragglers, so this is a serious job!
- Garbage - will be handled on a as-needed basis. If you have to push the garbage down into the bag, it's your turn.
- Cooler / Ice - town runs for ice will be handled on an as-needed basis as well.
- Dishes - job will be assigned at day board.
- SITE FEES clarification - Sabha was informed that site fees have been waived in the past for guests who bring anything for the feast. This is NOT Clann policy. A members dues include all site fees, but all guests are expected to pay a site fee. The treasurer has traditionally reimbursed for the main dish. All other items brought for the feast are considered a donation to the Clann. No changes to Clann law are needed - members should refer to Clann law 06.1, 06.3, and 06.9.
- WOOD - prices for wood have nearly doubled since last year as more people have begun using wood to heat their homes. Wood for the last event was almost as much as the site fee itself! Wood prices are expected to remain high, but whether we end up using it or not we need to ensure we have enough for the event. It might be a good idea to investigate alternate sources for next event (ie: ordering less, and supplementing with wood that members can bring from home).
