This is most welcome news! As we move toward the feast of Brighid, I'm sure that patron of healing, poetry, and smithcraft smiles on your labors. I look forward to hearing the hammer ring!
I still need a lot of things, but I figure that I'll be making them soon enough. If you want to bless the Smithy with a gift, perhaps something that can be hung on the wall. Something inspirational. This smithy is for everyone to use, and I hope they do.
There are some more pics of the smithy in action from a mundane gathering at Guthrum's forge last night posted here. Good hospitality was offered, good ales (TM) were drunk, good carols were sung, good times were shared. Comyn only broke one hammer.
You let Momus loose in the smithy?!!!! Great pics, really wish I could have been there, looks like a great time was had by all. Happy New Year everyone!
That's a nice work space. I see you've got two forges, a propane and coal forge; that really increases the versatility. While I'm partial to coal myself, I readily admit there are noteworthy advantages to propane. Production work is SO much easier in propane, and just the simplicity of automatic temp control is fantastic.
I haven't figured out what kind of "something that can be hung on the wall. Something inspirational." to make yet. I think maybe I'll peruse some of the Celtic ironwork books I have and see if anything strikes me.
I haven't tried out the propane forge, yet. The coal forge has been used a few times so far. I'm still trying to get my tools and stuff made. I have to find some local suppliers for stock, too.
I have to say, though, it's a lot of fun, but much harder then it looks.
Smithy
Hey, guys. We now have a smithy. I'm going to try to get a pre-Christmas Smithy party this week. I'll keep you posted.

Comyn is right. Imbolc is coming soon and what better time to bless a smithy than with a first lighting and some gifts!
What do you need? Tongs, hammer, dipper, fire rake, poker, you name it. I'd be happy to make something for you to use in your new smithy.
