Elections '07
This thread will be set for TdB members only.
It's that time of year, folks! We've been informed that the Chieftan will not run again for the office due to personal concerns. He gave us all fair warning and I haven't heard a peep from anyone about who might wish to replace him. If you're thinking about running for Chiefftan, thinking about nominating someone for the job, or just have some issues to voice that whoever fills that office should be aware of, this forum thread is the place to announce! Let the people know your platform, or why so-and-so should be the next Chief, or what the next Chief should know to be the best he or she can be.
from Clann Law, Clan Positions, Officers
1) Chieftain: The Chieftain is responsible for holding and conducting meetings, making alliances, the clan's fighting unit, the safety of the clan, upholding the law, justice in matters of state."
Informal discussion about this topic on this site is NOT required by Clann law, but I have provided this forum anyway since we only have a few days left and perhaps it will kickstart people to think about it. If you cannot attend the event, and are a voting member in good standing - you can submit a proxy vote, but without discussion here how will you even know who to vote for? You can still show up at the event and be nominated without any discussion whatsoever. The Clann has prospered under Colin, but we need a new Chieftan!

Elections
I don't think it should be a law, but I think that anyone who takes a position of officer should be planning of going to Pennsic. He or she should at least preregister for Pennsic. Again, this should not be law, but something to consider if you want to be an officer.
Elections and Pennsic
Havent we been over the whole officers and Pennsic thing before? Wasnt it decided that since Pennsic is NOT an official TdB event that there wasnt any way that we could enforce a rule that says officers MUST go to Pennsic?
Pennsic
Although Pennsic is not a TDB event, it is a thing that we do as a clann. We are recognized by them as our own entity, and the officers of the clan do hold office there. The Chief is in charge of the camp, followed by the other officers in order. I don't think that a rule needs to be made, but if some one wants to fulfill the role of an officer, that person should be willing to be at the places where that role is needed.
If someone can't make it, like Colin this year, it doesn't take away from his position, but he did preregister. I just think that it should come into the decision when voting for an officer.
Pennsic attendance
I agree that it is something to consider, and also that it shouldn't be made a rule. I disagree that an officer, who is already volunteering to assume more than the average member's responsibilities should also be expected to pay for Pennsic if they cannot attend. My personal feeling is that having all of our officers at Pennsic is definitely something to be desired.
(On a related note: If the officers do indeed hold an official 'court' at Pennsic, whatever passes there should be recorded by some person in attendance and brought back to be entered into the meeting notes. It has happened too many times that someone is made an official friend or some proclamation is made and the Clann at large is not informed.)
Congratulations to '07 appointees!
Just a quick list of the 2007 Officers, and other appointees from the election for your easy (and future) reference. This is what I remember, but I think I got some of it wrong. Please let me know asap and I'll correct it.
