Trailer Day Update
Trailer day update:
The following stock / kitchen items need to be replenished:
Baking Powder
Dill
Tabasco
Oregano
Bay Leaves
Rice
Powdered Milk
Bread Crumbs
Barley
Coffee
Vegetable Oil
Balsamic vinegar
Non Breakable Pitcher
Lantern Battery
Med Kit:
Non Aspirin
Aspirin
Ibuprofen
Colin may assign someone to quartermaster all items needed however, for the time being, if you are counting on any of the above items for your feast or cooking contribution next event, know that you may need to supply the items as they are not on hand and don’t hear anything otherwise.
Please favor plastic water tight reseal-able packaging wherever possible.
In addition, Nomad is in need of more rigorous servicing.
The pilot light lights up, and will roar when you increase the gas flow, but the heater is not kicking on despite being hooked directly into good pressure. More qualified hands are required to troubleshoot and fix.
If hot water is to be had at Beltaine this needs to addressed ASAP. My schedule is pretty rough in the coming weeks, but I will do what I can to make the project as access able as possible.
The Trailer has been cleaned, organized, repacked and is otherwise looking very good.
Incidentally, for future reference, it takes about a good four hours to effect such maintenance with four people.
Thanks to Colin, Comyn, Brogan and Tess for a good days effort.

celtic podcasts
Just in case anyone is interested in checking out more of the music I was playing at the trailer work day (thanks to Brogan for lending me his stereo): All the music were mp3s of 1/2 to 1 hour episodes downloaded from the four Celtic music podcasts I've been listening to lately. These podcasts play like radio programs by fans of Celtic music who spend countless hours compiling and researching the best new bands in this genre.
I've added links to their respective homepages on the Celtic / Folk Bands to Check Out page (which is in turn linked from a section on the main page of the Book of Song). These podcasts offer a great way to discover new independent Celtic folk bands.

Guthrum adds "you bastard"

nomad
Technically I am not a bastard, I am the son of Fergus. I have served the Clann as Druid and Bard and am steadily acquiring the accoutrement required of one of noble class. Since you have so slandered me here as witnessed by the Clann as gathered - as compensation I call upon you to bend your mind toward the maintenance of Nomad so that those who are tasked with doing the dishes might have hot water at Beltaine! If you will not have time or ability to fix our wounded little friend, please discuss the matter with the Chieftan as soon as possible so that alternate plans (do we have any?) might be put into effect.
¨Dishes - Valarian (if present), Finnoula & Colin¨

You call upon me? Get ready
You call upon me? Get ready to do some fasting.

fasting
Guthrum aludes to the Clann tradition of sitting outside the tent of someone who you believe to have wronged you and refusing to eat until the rift is settled. It would be dishonor for the 'accused' to eat anything while a guest is fasting at his door, so this has the tendency toward quick resolution of the issue. However, in this case I fully intend to ignore the slight until AFTER Beltaine because I want to make as many dishes as possible for the Chieftan and Fionnula to clean in the COLD water. ;)

This thread was about the trailer
Brogan has informed us he is looking into a replacement kit for the water heater. Though I don't know when he plans on installing it we're still up in the air.
As for a secondary plan we've heated water up on the fire and have done dishes with that in the past and we can do it again if need be... Though I would prefer the heater working...

Water heater specifics
Brogan ordered a water flow valve kit... I expect it to be installed the week it arrives.
According to a trouble shooting guide, this should solve our problem, however, the proof is in the pudding.
The actual installation of the kit is realy a one man job with helper situation, however.. then we need to hook it up and test it.. so help with moving the trailer etc would be apriciated and general moral support.
When the kit is in hand, we will let folks know. There wont be much lead time as time is running short and we should get this done quickly just in case there are complications.
for future referance, our water heater is a:
Paloma tankless water heater

www.palomatankless.com
Model # PH-12M -DP (LP Feuled)
Serial # 98.04 008246
online manual at http://www.nonsuch.org/WaterHeater.htm
(comyn can you snag those files and keep em onsite somewhere?)
There is a list of suppliers both online and otherwise listed on the paloma website.
Is "monkaí" focal greannmhar.

Nomad Manual
I downloaded the four pages for the Paloma, combined them, and created one 4Mb PDF file. I then attached that file to the Clann Handbook page (since with current settings, you can't attach files to comments or forum posts but only to real pages). Look for it here:
Clann Handbook
- Note: originally the Clann Handbook page was set up only as a placeholder for the PDF document of the same name which is also on the Yahoo site. Someday we should probably dismantle that PDF and create regular (and editable) book pages for the various setups it describes so we can all contribute to it easily. Case in point, the specifics from above should probably be a sub-page to the Clann handbook someday.
- Note2: I am using Linux, so the created PDF did not end up in proper page order and I cannot change that, but I don't think its a very big deal.
