Gher Lights

Gher Lights

Romance, fifth century style
This picture shows both the lovely interior view of a gher ceiling in the morning (note the leaf silhouetted on the roof canvas), and the utility of putting a beam across the smoke hole to suspend a light source. The heat from the candles helps make the gher a cozy place for clann members to congregate when the sun goes down. We gather in, pass around the mead, and tell stories long into the night.
