Yes, there is a point to this carving - no, not THAT point! Fertility and strength were combined attributes in many of the ancient gods, thus they were often portrayed in a state of readiness, with all that might imply. If you watch National Geographic or Animal Planet, you know that often when animals in the wild fight each other, they show the same state of excitement in an attempt to intimidate the challenger. As it is in nature, so it is with the ancient gods, for we are all part of the same universe.
