themes

This book page should hold notes about themes. I watched the dudertown videos 11 and 12 about themes and I think they're really not too hard to follow if you've ever seen CSS before. If you haven't seen CSS before and are interested in web design at all, do yourself a favor and learn about it. It's a way to separate the look and feel of a site from the content, allowing you to change the entire layout of a site based on one page of code.

You use way too many

You use way too many abriviations.

though i understnad the concept of cascading style sheets and themes... i havent worked with them at all.

I am way way out of practice with any type of coding and this may take alot of time for me.. if i can manage to hold my attention span even that long.

there were always three parts of graphic design... making the grahpics.. writing the code.. and then tweaking so they all play nice together.... ugh.

Though... the parchement

Though... the parchement theme of the aol site never fully expanded to reach its manfiest destiny...

I wanted illuminated capitols to start off each parchment post... and still do if we could swing it.

perhaps little scrolls or ogham stone buttons for section links or something.

Not my bag

Oh well
Although I may tackle it someday on my own if you don't dive in with me, theme design is not my strong point. Look at most of my sites and you'll see that I am a content guy - flashy graphic crap be damned! But, since you have some ideas, perhaps we can work together and theme out something decent. The skeleton of the site is functional, and the cool thing is that theming can always be done later on to transform the site without changing any content (gotta love CSS: cascading style sheets).

colors

Seems like we should be able to work the CSS such that when a new Book page is submitted, it is colored a certain way (or has a parchment graphic or something) to indicate that it is a page, while a site story submission would look a little different, etc. That might make this more understandable.
