Sheetwall: The hunt

Sheetwall: The hunt

To mark the boundaries of our camp at Pennsic we use white and green sheets. Over the years these have been differing degrees of decorated, of late less so. For the 40th anniversary of Pennsic, Comyn pledged to create two sheet walls and with a great amount of help from Sabha in this endeavour, his design choices took physical form. Instead of painting the sheetwalls, a green sheet was cut out and sewn onto a white (we used a projector to throw the image on a wall and traced it to size, which, while not a period method worked wonderfully!). Hopefully fabric on fabric will prove longer lasting than paint.

The design may look familiar as the stag and dog are elements from a design culled from George Bain's Celtic Art reference book which I used on the back of our black 1999 tee shirt. The design was a George Bain original and is not period, but incorporates elements of the hunt and Celtic design motifs. I thought the spirit of the hunt would be appropriate.
