Imbolc Planning Meeting – 12 Dec 2009

Meeting called to order at 1:30 with a joint blessing by Comyn and Aonghus

What News:
Comyn - practicing a bit less. Produced a book of song with some assistance. Has developed an interest in the Astrolabe. Fixed the coin jig with Guthrum.
Sabha - "not much" but... The book 'The Enchanted Sole' was published featuring several examples of her knitting. Will do a book of mittens, working on technical writing and editing. This is especially for knitting. Brewed 3 gallons of raspberry chocolate port. Bottle was passed to the grateful assembly.
Fiachra - working on TDB Press 'Gods and Fighting Men'. Has lost weight and is happy for that.
Eberwulf – Work is 'meh'. Family is very good.
Aonghus - Read a book about the Roman Legion, 'Legionary' which he recommends and mentions is available on Amazon. Is considering writing. New shop poses challenges to the woodworking set-up. (tools) Work is complicated. Health is complicated but can be summed up with the word 'Spleen(c)' which also doubles as the word of the day.
Guthrum - Went to an SCA event in November, and has done a lot of brewing. (3x5 F&G Brown, 15 Gallons mead) Has fired up the forge a couple times.
Fionnuala - Same as Guthrum
Brogan - Entangled in a beaurocratic challenge at work which hopefully to be resolved soon. Motorcycle license, finally.

Fiscal Business
Treasury stands at $ 761 cash / 292 coins.
Projection - we may be subject to a budget shortfall in 2010

Motion to raise dues to 100.00/ per person per year. Motion passes unanimously.
Commentary - Comyn suggests we should look to cost cutting measures as well.
EW doesn't like the increase.

Old Business:
Trailer – Trailer status (physical) remains the same. Discussion about whether the Clann currently should maintain the trailer, or, divest of it and take the money until such time as we need to upgrade the trailer. Motion is made to sell the trailer, which is tabled until the next meeting.

On present trailer, Brogan will replace a borrowed trailer tire.

The idea of a Brewer's Guild is again raised. Most of the brewers are amenable to the idea of a guild but it is decided they will discuss the formation of same as their busy lives permit and not at the meeting, until/unless deciding to ask for official status by the Clann.

New Business:
IMBOLC – At location in West Islip. Aonghus will make the reservation. Preferred date is 2/6

It is suggested that, while we will have a nice location for the whole day, it's a good idea if those who are able can come to the site in the early afternoon instead of just for the evening portion. The Clann has decided to bring back the hilarity of the traditional auction this year.
