Viking ship Draken arrives

Post by Comyn »

draken2.jpg
The replica Viking ship Draken arrived in North America after a 6 week voyage, and will be travelling through Canada and the US and eventually arrive in New York later in the year. The tentative itinerary is listed below. It would be great if a bunch of the Vikings could meet up with the ship as it passes through the NY canal system (Godricstead is very close to the lock system) or if we feel intrepid, we could meet up with the ship in NY or in Mystic, CT (looking at you Konrad!)

Celts and Vikings at Mystic

Post by Konrad »

I've been following this closely ever since I first heard of it a week ago. I already plan to attend the talk being given at the seaport on the evening of 10/13. Here's the link to information about that:

I'm also very likely to make a daytime excursion to Mystic to see the dragon itself. However, since I'm not yet sure of the dates that she'll be in port I don't know exactly when that will be. Clearly if any of you are interested I would love to coordinate this with my celt brothers and sisters. Mystic is a just short easy hop up I-95 from the New London ferry terminal. If you promise to be nice I might even be willing to provide a shuttle service.

This just in: For those that care, the viking ship Draken is scheduled to arrive at Mystic Seaport this Sunday, 10/2. It will be open for public tours for one week only (10/3 - 10/10). Unfortunately, I will not be available that week so I must retract my earlier offer to play native guide. I look forward to seeing everyone at Samhain.
