Viking era chest inspired by Oseberg 178

Every event for many years I end up bringing three of four little boxes and bags to lug all my personal stuff. Garb and feast gear have their designated totes, but items like belts, knives, hats, shoes, pouches, gaming boards and pieces, lanterns, skulls, a mirror, a throwing axe, etc. always seemed...

Re: Wanted: Table help

When Brogan helped me build my table in 2007, by that time it had been a few years since any Clann tables had been made at all. Something like 5 years had passed since the big Clann Table construction project. Fast forward 10 years (15 years since most of our tables were made) and I decided I needed...

Re: Wanted: Table help

Thanks! Your comment gave me an idea - I have a friend from work who works part time at Home Depot so I asked him if to keep an eye out for a scrap piece for me and he came in with one today!

Re: Wanted: Table help

Its hard to believe that its been 10 years since I got together with Brogan to make my Clann table. At the time I had bought enough material to make two tables and we made only one, so I've intended to make the second one ever since. A few months back I made the top for a second table (usually the t...

Re: Persona Development

As this topic has current interest, I thought it would be instructive to share some thoughts on it by a founding member of the SCA, Cariadoc. I feel honored to have been visited by this great story-teller several times at just one Pennsic, and I'm sure he has visited many other times I have missed. ...

Re: Pennsic Photos

One other note: the first time a page of thumbnails or an image is viewed the server actually has to generate that size image so there is usually delay while it does that unless someone else has already viewed the image at that particular size (you can change the size by the way using one of the lit...

Re: Pennsic Photos

At the Pennsic Decompression Party it was universally agreed by all attending that had camped with Bhriain at Pennsic 46 that Brahn WON PENNSIC. He did so many amazing things and his photo album is testament to that. His album contains hundreds of photos - all of them high quality (both aestheticall...

Sheela-na-gig

Many of the Sheela-no-gigs that have been found were associated with Churches and while they cannot be dated, most are associated with places that were in use between the 12th and the 14th century. There is also a folk memory of someone named Sheela in all those places that the Irish went to in the ...

Roman Roads subway map

Sasha Trubetskoy provides this fantastic fantasy subway-style map of Roman roads. Some liberties were taken of course and they are documented and discussed on the site linked but the point is it provides a really good way to grasp the network that connected all the far flung provinces of Rome in abo...
