The Tain describes a period in Irish history which may be any time between the birth of Christ to the 5th century. In any case, the place names on this map would likely have been familiar to men of the period we strive to re-enact.

I'm not sure what the source is on this map anymore (bad notes), but I had saved it with the express purpose of offering it for reference here at one time in the past. It's interesting because it shows the family names for the various Scottish Clans and their locations across Scotland.
